Your team will be guided one after the other in the app to around 12 stations distributed throughout the city, where you will have to solve a group task at each stop. In addition, all participants will regularly receive challenges in the app according to their chosen role, which also earn team points. You can find more information about this under "How does role assignment work?"
Once the tour begins, you have 48 hours to complete the game. You can pause or take breaks at any time during this period. On average, our tours take about 3 hours to complete.
Yes, each participant needs their own smartphone and must install the myCityHunt app to take part in the game. After the person with the tickets has started a tour, all other participants can easily join the game using the lobby code. For more information, see “How do I start a tour?”.
If there are fewer smartphones available than tickets booked, that’s no problem: you can still play the tour. Unused tickets will remain in your wallet until their expiration date and can be used later.
Once the tour has started, the ticket is considered redeemed. From that moment on, the game is available for 48 hours, and you can pause or take breaks at any time during this period.
Yes, an internet connection is absolutely necessary for all participants. This ensures a smooth and enjoyable gaming experience.
No, a myCityHunt tour can be played with a minimum of two people. However, the tours are even more fun with additional teammates, as each player receives entertaining challenges based on their chosen role.
Absolutely – your dog is more than welcome on our myCityHunt tours! Since our tours take place entirely outdoors, you can enjoy our exciting city adventures together with your four-legged friend. For your safety and out of consideration for other participants: Please remember not to forget the leash! That way, nothing stands in the way of an unforgettable adventure with your furry companion.
Many of our tours are available in multiple languages. You can recognize the available languages by the small flag icons in the tour overview as well as in the detailed information for each tour. When you start a tour, you can select the language in which you would like to play.
Please note: For technical reasons, a tour can only take place in a single language for all participants. Therefore, you must agree on a common language before starting the tour. Once the game has started, the language cannot be changed.
In the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, you will find the start button. Tap here to play a tour. In the next step, you can choose whether to create a new tour or join someone else’s tour.
You can also use the large button on the mini-map in the main menu for this.
To start a tour, you need at least one ticket in your wallet. Without tickets, you cannot start a tour. As the creator of the tour, you set the theme, location, number of players, and teams. This opens the tour lobby, which other players can join using a lobby code.
Please note: Each participant of a tour needs a ticket. There are two options:
1. Creator’s tickets: You can purchase tickets in advance for all participants, which will then be stored in your wallet. These tickets are automatically used when other players join.
2. Players’ own tickets: Players can also use their own tickets from their wallet when joining the tour.
So, you can either own all the necessary tickets for your teammates or just a part, in case some teammates want to use their own tickets to join.
If you want to join an existing tour, select the option "Join now".
Scan the lobby code and use either your own ticket from your wallet to join, or one provided by the tour creator.
Important: To join, you must use the individual tour code provided by the creator in the lobby, not the ticket code!
As soon as the tour starts, the ticket is considered redeemed. The game is then available for 48 hours, and breaks or interruptions are possible at any time during this period.
You can buy tickets via our website or directly in the app. Tickets purchased in the app can be redeemed immediately or saved in your wallet for later. Tickets from the website must first be added to your wallet after purchase – use the link in the confirmation email or enter the ticket code in the app.
As a general rule, we recommend booking tickets a few days before your planned date via our ticket shop, as there may occasionally be delays in email delivery.
1. No tickets in your wallet yet? Select "Add tickets" when starting the tour and follow the instructions.
2. You already have tickets but want to add more? Go to your player profile, select "Add tickets" in the wallet view, and follow the instructions.
Note: Tickets that you save in the wallet for later will reset all previous tour information. You can use them for any tour and city, and you will enter the information again when starting your next tour. More information: "Can I rebook my tickets?"
Tickets are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase. Within this period, you can start a tour at any time or join tours using your ticket.
Sometimes, tickets may remain after a tour because planned teammates were unable to participate. These tickets will stay in your wallet until their expiration date, and you can use them for another tour at any time.
Please note: This only applies to tickets that have not been redeemed at the start of the tour. If a player leaves the active game at a later time, the ticket is considered redeemed and cannot be refunded.
With your ticket, you can play a different tour at any time. When adding it to your wallet, you decide whether to play the previously booked tour immediately or use the ticket later for another tour. You will select the tour at your next tour start.
You can use your ticket in any other available city. Simply select the desired city when starting the tour.
At least 2 participants are required per game. You set the number of participants when starting the tour. Additional tickets can be purchased directly when creating the tour lobby. If someone drops out, the ticket remains in your wallet and can be used later.
myCityHunt tickets are not tied to a fixed date. You can use them on any day and at any time of your choice within 3 years of purchase. Since our tours can be played at any time, you don’t have to worry about your preferred date being fully booked – maximum flexibility for your adventure!
You can participate in myCityHunt tours with up to 200 people. Each team must consist of at least 3 and at most 7 people. If your group has at least 5 participants, you can split into several teams. You can flexibly choose the number of teams at the beginning of the tour.
Please note: The teams should be as equal in size as possible – an uneven split, such as 4 and 8 people, is unfortunately not possible. Of course, you can also complete the tour together as a larger group with several teams.
The locations of a tour are the same for all teams. All teams receive the same tasks and start at the same time. In our scavenger hunt, however, you are free to choose the order in which you visit the locations. Since each team solves the tasks at a different pace and receives different challenges, the tours usually diverge from the second location onwards. This way, every team has its own unique experience while still being part of the shared adventure!
You can use our app flexibly either as a registered user or as a guest. As a guest, you have the option to quickly and easily join a tour or discover cities and adventures near you.
However, if you want to buy tickets or start your own tour, registration is required. You can easily log in with Facebook or Google, or create your own myCityHunt account.
You can find your account settings in the bar menu at the top of the main menu. There you can, for example, change your password or delete your account.
You can find an overview of the tours you have already played in your player profile. There, you’ll not only see your highscores and a summary of each tour, but also all the photos taken during the tour and, if available, your audio recordings. This way, your adventure always stays alive!
Of course, you can easily download your photos or share them directly on social media to share your experiences with friends.
Our tours are mostly barrier-free and therefore well-suited for wheelchair users and families with strollers. Since you can choose your own route to each station, obstacles such as steps or narrow paths can usually be avoided without any problems.
Please understand that we cannot guarantee there won’t be occasional short-term restrictions due to construction sites or other obstacles along the way. If a destination becomes inaccessible, you can bypass the problem in the app, still complete the respective task, and continue your tour at your own pace.
