The Basilica of Saint Servatius in Maastricht is considered the oldest surviving church in the Netherlands. This Romanesque three-nave basilica was built over the grave of Bishop Servatius of Tongeren, who died in 384. The nave and choir date from around 1000, the transept from the second half of the 11th century.
The Basiliek van Onze-Lieve-Vrouw in central Maastricht dates partly from the 11th and partly from the 12th century; the crypt was consecrated between 1008 and 1018. Choir, transept and nave were completed around the mid-12th century. The organ, built in 1652, has 37 stops across three manuals.
